Canon EF 28-105mm f/3.5-4.5 USM

The Canon EF 28-105mm f/3.5-4.5 was a quite popular standard zoom during the film era and possibly itwill regain its former significance once full frame sensors will eventually enter the mainstream marketbut on the current APS-C DSLRs it is a quite...

The Canon EF 28-105mm f/3.5-4.5 USM proved to be a quite solid performer without any spectacularstrengths nor weaknesses except maybe low contrast performance. On APS-C DSLRs it is surely not afirst choice due to its focal length range which feels a...

Canon EF 28-105mm f/3.5-4.5 USM

May be Canon's most under-rated lens.Especially when price is considered.Very quick,accurate focus.Much better overall than my neighbor's $600 17-85 IS.

Sharp Fast focus Light,compact....a steal for the $$(even moreso used).

It's not a L in optical quality.But it's as good as any Canon non-L

Canon EF 28-105mm f/3.5-4.5 USM

This is a very nice little lens, versatile and capable of producing some very good pictures. It isn't the sharpest lens in the world, but it has good contrast and good colors and I've used it for everything from wildlife to landscapes. It's light and...

Light Versatile focal range Good colors and contrast Fast focusing Inexpensive

A bit soft, especially wide open. A bit slow.

Canon EF 28-105mm f/3.5-4.5 USM

What a hidden treasure! Why Canon has replaced it with an inferior version that is less solid, slower and with a plastic mount confuses me. I bought this to use on an EOS 33, which is a backup to my EOS1V and L series kit of superb lenses. This lens...

optical quality, speed, AF, value for money, compact size and light weight.

Maybe a little to "placcy", but it is a lower cost consumer lens. Canon should include a lens hood.

Canon EF 28-105mm f/3.5-4.5 USM

I like EF28-135 IS USM but it is too heavy for me to carry around. I wanted the same optical quality, light and small glass, and the price I could afford. This is exactly I was looking for. I wasn't sure if I needed a hood but I find it "a must" for...

Lighter than EF28-135 IS USM while the optical quality IMHO is the same.

It is nice that you can attach the hood backwards when you don't use it, but it covers the zoom ring so you cannot use the zoom.

Canon EF 28-105mm f/3.5-4.5 USM

This was the first I bought for my 10D to see what the 1.6x fuss was all about and to get me going. Although it is not the best lens I could ask for, this is one of the best choices I made for the zoom lens I use for snap shots indoors. Great for...

Wide-angle and zoom in one Fast USM Excellent price/quality ratio

Can be a bit soft used below f5.6

Canon EF 28-105mm f/3.5-4.5 USM

This was one of the first decent lenses I purchased, after upgrading from a cheap POS kit lens which came along with my first EOS (rebel?). Build quality is a notch above the kit lenses, but below the L lenses. I love the metal lens mount and solid...

Fast and silent AF, good build quality, decent optics for the money. You get these lenses very cheap these days after the 28-105 mark-II, 28-135 and other lenses have flooded the market.

For this price, no weaknesses. If I were to nitpick, optics are not so hot, which is to be expected from a lens of this price.

Canon EF 28-105mm f/3.5-4.5 USM

I was lucky to get this 2nd hand at a good price & good condition. I have the version that has a flower symbol for the macro, and not the word "macro" written. This is not the II ver. But it is optically the same, and in fact much better built than the...

Strong and solid build - 105mm becomes 168mm with the 300D, good if you want the reach. - ring usm is fast - FTM allows me to manually overide focus - relatively fast 3.5-4.5 - good all around lens, 2nd only to 28-135 IS. - 58mm filters are easy to get...

My non MK-II version is a bit heavy. The mkII version is lighter but optically the same. - 28mm becomes 45mm with a 300D, so you lose the wide side. You wish you had 24-85 w/c is better optically IMO, though you lose 105mm. - May need to stop down a...

Canon EF 28-105mm f/3.5-4.5 USM

This is a terrific general use lense. My version is the 1999 version with the macro designation not the earlier flower desingnation. This lens rivals fixed focal lenghts at every position. Distortion is the lowest of any zoom I have used(and there are...

Sharpness, contrast,built quality

Internal focusing cuts effective focal length.
