...vista not xp

Upgrading the Ram to 2x2gb crucial pc5300

Nice very high resolution for 15.4 inch ; Came with Xp, but a bit confusing to install/downgrade ; non integrated graphics card, doesn't use up your memory

Mine was preloaded with Vista, not XP. And there is no xp cd /upgrade cd. It came with 3 rescue and recovery disks and a windows xp conversion manual which wasn't very clear and was also outdated to the recovery software provided ; I just put the cd's...

Vista - I'm a believer

I upgraded the RAM to 4 GB and I am running 32bit. I hear that 32bit OS can't use more than 3GB but I don't understand that. My computer can see the full 4G-bytes. I don't know if its using it all though.

I am absolutely loving Vista. Also the thinkpad build is well thought out. I got this laptop for about $800.00, which is a smokin hot deal. I am very happy with this computer overall.

The Hard Drive died after about one week. I almost took off one egg for that but IBM took great care of me. I had a new HD in two days. I changed out the HD no problem. My computer is running like a champ. I am happy that I got a chance to test IBM's...

Excellent Notebook

Excellent notebook. I ordered 2GB of additional RAM giving me 3GB total, this made a HUGE performance difference. I also freshly reformatted the machine to get rid of all the garbage Lenovo installed, plus the OS configuration was pathetic and...

Exceptional screen resolution

A little thick compared to others

A corker of a laptop

The technical specs on newegg don't mention that this machine has a firewire port (it does, a little 4-pin one in the front of the left side), and also erroneously says that the maximum memory is 3Gb (I have 4 Gb happily running, with 64-bit Linux)....

Beautiful solid construction: the keyboard has virtually no give at all, and the screen is attached with stiff, hefty metal hinges. When upgrading memory, you can see the thick aluminium chassis that underpins all this rigidity. Great price point for...

Vista (but has XP conversion pack). Heavier and bulkier than other 15-inch laptops (which is the price you pay for the sturdiness). The screen has some backlight bleed at the top and bottom edges when trying to display full black (not noticeable for...

Also has card reader.

Also forgot to mention that, contrary to the listed specs, it also includes a card reader. lspci lists the card reading devices as: 15:00.2 SD Host controller: Ricoh Co Ltd R5C822 SD/SDIO/MMC/MS/MSPro Host Adapter (rev 21) 15:00.3 System peripheral:...

Excellent Laptop

Consider purchasing a docking port if portability is important. This laptop does NOT overheat, is easy to hold for long durations, and consistently operates cooler during use than my previous IBM Thinkpad R40 and many other laptops I've used. Lenovo...

This is one sturdy/solid well designed laptop and is an excellent value for a preconfigured package. We were ready to purchase direct, but you have to pay $$ hundreds more (and upgrade to a T-series which we did not need) to get features such as...

Standard memory (1GB) hampers speed due to minimum MS Vista OS requirements. By installing additional software such as a security system, chat, or gaming/other graphics intensive programs, you will quickly max out the standard 1 GB memory. To improve...

Great Laptop

Fingerprint reader is fun to play with, but I don't if I will stick with it. Allows seamless logging in via fingerprint or password. Comes with 3 different heads for the "eraser mouse" (small, large, and concave). Battery life is average. HD has 6.28GB...

Bluetooth, 802.11, Large HD, Sturdy Keyboard, large screen, matte finish on screen, S-Video port

Slow HD, Recovery CD is full featured, but takes a while to boot.
