Sony Bravia KDL-46HX729

The KDL-46HX729 ($1709 MSRP) is a relatively high-end model in Sony's line-up. They certainly didn't skimp on the feature set: 3D display, a huge collection of streaming content, built-in WiFi, DLNA support, and a super-thin profile thanks to the LED...

Whites so bright you can watch in daylight ; Excellent color performance ; Great motion performance

Flickering 3D gave us a headache

The Sony Bravia KDL-46HX729 ($1709 MSRP) came out of our labs gleaming, though we expect no less from Sony TVs above a certain price point. The color performance was exemplary. The black level could have been a little darker, but the incredibly bright...

Sony Bravia KDL-55HX729

The KDL-55HX729 is a few steps down from Sony's top of the line, but it retains a lot of the high-end features. The KDL-55HX729 supports 3D playback (glasses, as always, are a separate purchase), built-in WiFi over 802.11n, and Sony's new stable of...

The KDL-55HX729 has all the features of the high end and has very, very similar picture quality. This unit is due out a month after the flagship, so we’re guessing it will offer a lower price point than the flagship when it launches. Overall, though,...

Sony HX729 / HX720

Sony HX729 (HX720 in Europe) is a slim Edge LED based TV with all of Sony's key features, including 3D, Bravia Internet Video, the X-Reality Pro engine and a range of other multimedia features.

Fairly good picture quality; Response time ; 3D detailing

Black depth not as good as expected ; Smart TV platform not very good ; Inputs point out towards wall ; 3D effect gone when head is tilted

Sony HX729 (HX720 in Europe) incorporates Sony’s full Bravia Internet Video platform but Sony is not allowing users to download their own TV Apps. We understand that Sony has invested their Smart TV efforts into the Google TV platform but right now...

Sony Bravia KDL-46HX729 3D LED/LCD TV (TPV 103)

Sony KDL-46HX729

A higher-end Sony stuffed with features, with good general performance, but weak 3D

Just as good as the 929

Ordering on line was easy. Be sure to include HDMI cables for connections to your cable box, ROKU, and Blu Ray player. Shipping to Hawaii took a week to 10 days longer than claimed which led to problems with the Basic install which I eventually...

Beautiful picture

Reflects light more than my previous LCD
