Sony KV-36XBR400 Direct-View Television

It used to be that a TV plugged into the antenna or cable outlet and that was that. Then we got fancy and connected the antenna to the VCR and then to the TV.

Never Buy Sony

WHEN it works, the picture was fairly good.

Very Heavy, Poor Customer Service, Known Hardware Flaws.

It's a lemon

I purchased this set around the beginning of 2001. While I've been happy with the picture quality and sound, I'm very disappointed in the durability / quality of the components. To date, I've replaced the D-Board (part # A-1346-947-A) 3 times, which I ...

This is one heavy tv

The XBR is the top of the line for the Sony Wega TVs - it has the flat screen but is not the flat plasma variety. The TV has HDTV capabilities but I have not exercised this option.

Clear picture ; many input options

Best non-hdtv you can buy

I've had this TV for 5 years and have never regreted it. It has been completely reliable without a single problem. It has a flat screen which helps reduce glare and pretty much every audio and video input/output that you could ever want on a tv. The...

Wonderful picture quality, sound, and tons of inputs.

Extremely heavy, two large people must carry it. Expensive.

My VVega

For Christmas of the year 2000, my mom left the rest of my family a christmas card as a gift. The card contained a poem, in which the last line read, "You may get a new TV, just please let it fit through the door."

Wonderful picture quality, sound, and tons of inputs.

Extremely heavy, two large people must carry it. Expensive.

Truly HD-ready, folks - hence the price

Truly HD ready (cheaper flat-screens aren't), gorgeous picture and design

Heavy, pricey if you pay retail

Truly HD-ready, folks - hence the price

The questions about why this TV is so expensive when compared to the Sony flat-screens that cost more than $1000 less can be answered simply: this TV is truly HD-ready. The problem with HDTV right now is that the FCC has not decided upon a standard, so...
