Falcon Northwest Talon (Core i7-860)

The Falcon Northwest Talon comes in a new case, with new Core i7-860 components, courtesy of Intel.

Speedy, high end gaming system. Very good build quality and cable routing. SSD for speedy load times. No Bloatware.

Door only opens to 90 degrees. Extra performance may not justify the added price.

Falcon Northwest Talon (Core i7-950)

The Falcon Northwest Talon (Core i7-950) is a contender for hardcore gamer PC of the year, eschewing gimmicks like a flashy case for simple design, great build quality, and blistering performance.

Great gaming performance for less than $2,500. Great wire routing. Simple, air-cooled overclocking.

Case is a fingerprint magnet. Lacks multimedia card reader. Looks like a run-of-the-mill PC.

Falcon Northwest Talon

The Falcon Northwest Talon is the most affordable SLI system we've seen to date. It provides the power needed for today's games, just not at levels worth bragging about. The Talon makes a good fit for gamers looking for an affordable, expandable...

Large case leaves room to expand; 650-watt power supply; SLI graphics for reasonable price; configurable.

Small hard drive on test unit; noisy; performance tweaks don't add up to much.

Stressing function over form, the unassuming Falcon Northwest Talon is an SLI gaming PC that provides the power needed for today's games, just not at levels worth bragging about.

Falcon Northwest Talon (Core i7-875K)

Five years ago, $2,500 use to be the price point for an "entry-level" gaming desktop; now, you can buy a perfectly respectable gaming rig for as little as $1,300. The Falcon Northwest Talon (Core i7-875K) ($2,499 direct, $2,895 with optional paintwork)...

Overclocked Core i7 power. Unique paint job. Great 3D performance. More reasonably priced than Mach V. Upgradable. No Bloatware. USB 3.0

Smudges and scratches show up easily on automotive paint

Think of the Editors' Choice winning Falcon Northwest Talon (Core i7-875K) as the performance luxury model of gaming desktops: You get to the same game grid, but it's sleeker, a bit faster, and has a lot more prestige than entry level game rigs.

Falcon Northwest Talon

When Falcon Northwest submitted its Talon PC to us instead of its top-gun Mach V, we didn't think the machine stood a chance of taking down the spate of ripping-fast 4GHz Core i7 rigs we've seen in the last few months.

Dual Radeon HD 5970s; super quiet; relatively energy efficient

Where’s the Blu-ray drive? Will never get a hexa-core upgrade

The Talon is not the most powerful machine we’ve ever tested, but it still gets our approval for being fast, freakishly quiet, and even energy efficient. Heck, it’ll even save you a few thousand bucks, to boot.
