PANASONIC HTB498 2.1 Wireless Sound Bar

Looks good

Takes about 20 seconds to actually output any sound after turn on. All sound settings sound badly equalised.

PANASONIC HTB498 2.1 Wireless Sound Bar

It wont knock your socks off but the sound quality is good.

Keeps turning itself off when idle for more than 5 minutes.. which is made worse by the remote control which is fiddley at certain angles, and takes a little while to turn back, so you never know if your successful, or if you have turned it back off...

PANASONIC HTB498 2.1 Wireless Sound Bar

PANASONIC SC-HTB498 reviewed as part of a product review panel. This is a very straightforward and easy to use soundbar / subwoofer system with generally good sound. I also have an older Panasonic 1000W 5.1 surround system, and while this soundbar...

No cables supplied apart from mains power. Remote control is small and flimsy.

PANASONIC HTB498 2.1 Wireless Sound Bar

As a mid-range entry to Panasonic’s sound bar range, we were very impressed with the performance of the HTB498 which had the feel of quality. We tested the sound bar for watching both films and TV, and listening to music. Set up was very simple. The...

These are really minor niggles as overall I was very impressed: No HDMI or optical cables included. The auto-off power saving function would benefit from being adjustable as it turns off after no audio input for a few minutes. Whilst the HDMI cable...

PANASONIC HTB498 2.1 Wireless Sound Bar

Nice design, looks good and not too bulky against the existing TV. Easy and quick to set up. Bluetooth connected easily to the iphone and other devices. Good crisp and clear sound from the speaker when watching TV.

HDMI cable not included in the box.

PANASONIC HTB498 2.1 Wireless Sound Bar

The PANASONIC HTB498 2.1 Wireless Sound Bar feels and looks of good quality. Setting it up was a breeze, I connected an HDMI cable and everything worked without further setting up. Even the subwoofer and the sound bar connected instantly via the...

Unfortunately, there was no HDMI or optical cables in the box. Fortunately I had some spare. I recommend using HDMI over optical if you have an HDMI (ARC) socket on your TV.

PANASONIC HTB498 2.1 Wireless Sound Bar

I wanted a system to turn on with my tv as I'm currently using hifi separates which need switching on separately and are a bit bulky. The first thing I tried was playing music on the system which was a bit disappointing, however after some adjustment...

1. It's a good way to stream music from the internet but doesn't perform as well as a good quality designated stereo system.
