Samsung Galaxy Victory 4G LTE (Virgin Mobile)

The Samsung Galaxy Victory is a pretty good smartphone for Virgin Mobile, and 4G LTE support gives it a leg up on the competition.

4G LTE support. Runs Android 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean). Comfortable size and shape.

Camera, display, and specs are all merely average.

Samsung Entro (Virgin Mobile)

The Samsung Entro for Virgin Mobile is a bare bones flip phone that does a fine job of the absolute minimum.

Inexpensive. Simple. Large number pad.

No Bluetooth. No multimedia features of any kind.

Apps, Multimedia, and Conclusions The user interface is responsive and simple to use. The home screen displays all of the same information as the external display, and gives you quick access to your contacts and text messages. The main menu features...

Samsung Galaxy Reverb (Virgin Mobile)

The Samsung Galaxy Reverb is a solid midrange Android smartphone for Virgin Mobile, but it's a little too expensive for what you get.

Nice display. Runs Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). Good battery life.

No 4G. Average processor. Price is a little too high.

Multimedia, Camera, and Conclusions The Galaxy Reverb comes with 1.95GB of free internal storage, along with an empty microSD card slot on the left side of the phone. My 32 and 64GB SanDisk cards worked fine, and the phone is compatible with a large...

Samsung Montage (Virgin Mobile)

The Samsung Montage lets you talk and text on an inexpensive payLo plan from Virgin Mobile, but that's pretty much it.

Simple. Adequate keyboard. Inexpensive plans.

No 3G. Poor video camera. Limited features.

Virgin Mobile Differences and Conclusions It has a different name, but the Montage is the same phone as the Samsung Array we reviewed over on Boost Mobile. For a closer look at the phone, read our review of that phone and check out the slideshow below....

Samsung Array (Sprint)

Simple. Adequate keyboard

No 3G. Poor video camera. Limited features

The Samsung Array is a simple keyboarded phone for Sprint users, but there's only so much you can do with it.

Samsung Montage (Virgin Mobile) review

Virgin Mobile, like most carriers these days, skews toward the smartphone, but it needs to keep options open for customers with more straightforward goals in mind. For them, the $50 Samsung Montage is a decent choice as a texting phone. It won't win...

Its physical design is one of the Samsung Montage's greatest strengths, along with its media player, search feature, and slide-out QWERTY keyboard.

The Montage's battery life is short, and the keyboard keys could be taller.

Virgin Mobile's budget-friendly Samsung Montage is a functional messaging phone without a contract, though its poor battery life and entry-level features hardly stand out in the crowd.

Samsung Restore (Virgin Mobile)

The Samsung Restore stumbles on its way to the prepaid counter.

Attractive design. Roomy QWERTY keyboard. Good call quality. Punchy speakerphone.

Middling reception. Sluggish Web browser. Buggy, mediocre camera. Useless camcorder.

Plans, Multimedia, and Conclusions Virgin Mobile offers three service plans: $35 per month with 300 minutes, a $45 per month with 1200 minutes, and a $55 month option with unlimited voice calls. All three plans come with unlimited text, e-mail, data,...

Samsung Mantra SPH-M340 (Virgin Mobile)

If you want a simple prepaid phone for making voice calls, the Samsung Mantra SPH-M340 will do well, but if you want to do anything else, keep looking.

Simple. Cheap. Inexpensive prepaid plans.

Very poor camera. Tiny external display. No music, video, or camcorder.

Features, Camera, and Conclusions The main menu consists of nine large icons arranged in a grid. There are links to your contacts, messaging, the Web, and a number of other basic functions. All of the usual low-end phone apps are in place as well,...

Samsung Intercept (Virgin Mobile) review

Virgin Mobile USA has a handful of higher-end cell phones and smartphones on its prepaid roster, but the Samsung Intercept is the carrier's first Android offering. The Intercept is no stranger to the United States, having arrived three months before on...

The Samsung Intercept is a solid first foray for Virgin Mobile into Android territory. The phone brings with it a 3.2-megapixel camera, a great QWERTY keyboard, 32GB expandable memory, and the Android 2.1 OS.

Photo quality on the Intercept could be stronger, the screen could be larger, and the dimensions could be sleeker. We found the optical touch pad too small to be truly useful.

The Samsung Intercept is one of the most advanced and priciest phones for Virgin Mobile, but it's an excellent addition to the carrier's lineup.

Virgin Mobile Shuttle - red review

While we were fans of Helio handsets like the Ocean and the Kickflip , we knew that Helio as a company was struggling. Indeed, Helio was shopping around for a buyer, and in late June, Virgin Mobile stepped up to buy the fledgling MVNO for $39 million....

The Virgin Mobile Shuttle has EV-DO, support for location-based services, a music player, and a 1.3-megapixel camera. It also has excellent call quality.

The Virgin Mobile Shuttle has quirky touch-sensitive keys that are a little too sensitive for our liking. Also, we think the Shuttle's WAP browser and slim multimedia offerings don't take full advantage of the EV-DO.

The Virgin Mobile Shuttle is fast, sleek, and affordable, making it one of the most attractive handsets for Virgin Mobile customers.
